About that corner — read this before you compare prices

An L-shaped kitchen has exactly one corner, and it is the deepest storage in the room. There are two ways to handle it, and the cheaper one is not free.

Leave it empty. Two fillers close the gap, the countertop runs over the top, and roughly nine cubic feet of space sits sealed behind the cabinets. It saves about $275 of cabinet. You will never reach that space again once the countertop is on.

Use it. A Lazy Susan corner base turns the most awkward spot in the kitchen into the one you reach into every day. It adds $275 — $245 for the cabinet, $30 to assemble it.

L-shaped kitchen, corner left empty $2,099
L-shaped kitchen, corner working (Lazy Susan) $2,374

Both are honest kitchens. We would rather you chose the corner knowingly than discovered it after the countertop went on. If a quote you are comparing does not say which one it is, ask.

Four colors. Same price.

This package is the same price in Timeless Shaker White, Timeless Shaker Gray, Timeless Shaker Blue or Doric Beige Gray.

Package 3 — The Standard 10×10 Kitchen

A 10×10 is the industry’s comparison unit — a standard set of base and wall cabinets that lets you price one seller against another honestly. Ours start at $3,300 and run to $7,700 depending on the line, door style and finish. Those are cabinets plus assembly, before tax. The full tier-by-tier breakdown is on our cabinet prices page, and the instant quote tool prices your actual kitchen against the same rates.

Questions people ask

Is $1,250 really the whole cabinet price?

Yes. That is every cabinet in the twelve-foot wall package, flat-packed, picked up at our Chicago shop. Assembly, delivery and Illinois sales tax are the only things added, and each one is listed above with its exact cost.

Do the cabinets come assembled?

They ship flat-packed. Assembly is $25 for a standard cabinet, so the seven-cabinet package is $175 assembled. You can also build them yourself at no cost.

How much is delivery in Chicago?

$150 flat anywhere within 30 miles of our shop at 2627 N Kildare Ave — three miles or thirty, the same price. Past 30 miles it is $150 plus $3 per additional mile. Pickup is free.

Are colors more expensive than white?

No. Timeless Shaker White, Timeless Shaker Gray, Timeless Shaker Blue and Doric Beige Gray are all the same price. You are not charged extra for choosing a color.

What are the cabinets made of?

Plywood boxes and solid-wood face frames — never particleboard or MDF. Framed cabinets use a 1/2" plywood box; frameless use 3/4". Shelves are 3/4" plywood. More detail on how our cabinets are built.

How fast can I get them?

Most in-stock styles are ready for pickup or local delivery in about 5 days, compared with the six to eight weeks special-order cabinets usually take.

What is the corner in an L-shaped kitchen, and why does it matter?

An L-shaped kitchen has one corner, and it is the deepest storage in the room. A package that leaves it empty closes it with two fillers and runs the countertop over the top — about nine cubic feet you can never reach again. That saves roughly $275 of cabinet. A Lazy Susan corner base makes the space usable and adds $275 to our L-shaped package. Both are honest; just make sure you know which one you are buying.

How much is an L-shaped kitchen?

Our 120" by 120" L-shaped package is $2,099 for ten cabinets with the corner left empty, or $2,374 with a Lazy Susan corner base. Delivered, assembled and tax paid, that is $2,755.
