Bathroom Vanities That Fit Your Existing Plumbing

Most bathroom vanities are sold in a handful of standard sizes, and if none of them lines up with where your drain and supply lines already are, somebody has to move the plumbing. That is the expensive part of a bathroom job — not the cabinet. We carry bathroom vanities in a wide enough range of widths, depths and drawer layouts that in most bathrooms the cabinet can be fitted to the room instead of the room being opened up to suit the cabinet.

Why buy your vanity from us

We carry a large variety of vanity cabinets, and the point of that variety is simple: it lets us work around the plumbing you already have.

Start with the fact that a single width is not a single cabinet. Take a 36 inch vanity. We can supply that 36 inch as a cabinet with no drawers at all, as a cabinet with the drawers on the left side, or as a cabinet with the drawers on the right. Same outside dimension, three different interiors. That one choice is often all it takes to clear a drain that sits off-centre, or to put the drawers on the side of the room where there is space to open them. The same applies at 30 inches.

Next, the narrow cabinets. We carry three-drawer vanity cabinets at 12, 15 and 18 inches wide, at the full 21 inch vanity depth. These are not filler strips — every one of them is a real cabinet with three working drawers in it. Standing one next to a sink base lets us build up to almost any wall width without leaving a gap at the end, and you get usable storage along the whole run rather than a blank panel.

Above that, we can custom-size larger three-drawer vanity cabinets at 21, 24, 27, 30, 33 and 36 inches wide. That gives us three-inch steps most of the way up the range, and drawers the whole way.

And where a bathroom needs full-height storage, we can modify existing kitchen pantry cabinets down to 21 inch depth — vanity depth — so the tall unit sits flush with the rest of the run instead of standing proud of it.

The result is that the customer receives exactly what they want, in the space they actually have.

Storage towers that sit on the countertop

Several of our lines include a tower cabinet designed to stand on the vanity top rather than hang on the wall. They are 18 inches wide and 12 inches deep, and come in three heights — 48, 54 and 60 inches. Each one has a door, two drawers and fixed shelving inside.

On a standard vanity, a 48 inch tower lands comfortably under an eight-foot ceiling, and the taller ones suit bathrooms with more height to use. Put one at each end of a double vanity and you get the storage of a linen closet without giving up any floor space. They are available in shaker, slim shaker and raised-panel styles, so the tower matches the vanity underneath it rather than looking bolted on.

How the vanities are built

The construction is the same as our kitchen cabinets, and we are specific about it rather than vague:

• Plywood boxes and solid-wood face frames. No particleboard, no MDF — which matters more in a bathroom than anywhere else in the house, because a slow supply-line leak under a sink is one of the most common ways a cabinet dies.
• 3/4 inch plywood shelves.
• Solid birch drawer boxes with dovetail joints.
• Soft-close hinges and soft-close drawer glides as standard, not an upgrade. Blum available on request.
• Standard vanity depth is 21 inches across the whole range, from the 12 inch three-drawer cabinet up to the 48 inch double sink base.
• Cabinet height is 34-1/2 inches, and the finished height once the countertop is on is 35-3/4 inches. That is comfort height. If you are used to an older 32 inch vanity, this is noticeably easier on your back, and it is worth standing at one in the showroom before you decide.

Finishes and styles

Vanities are available in the same finishes as our kitchen cabinets, which is useful if you are doing both at once or want the bathroom to relate to the rest of the house. The most requested directions for bathrooms are:

• White and off-white shaker — the safe, bright choice for a small bathroom
• Dark-stained shaker — warmer, hides water spotting better
• Navy and deep blue shaker
• Raised-panel traditional styles for larger primary bathrooms
• Slim shaker for a cleaner, more contemporary line

Send us your bathroom measurements and a photo or two — where the drain comes out of the wall or floor, where the supply lines are, and what is on either side of the vanity. That is enough for us to tell you which cabinet configurations will work without moving anything.

Can I replace my vanity without moving the plumbing?

Usually, yes. That is the main reason we carry so many configurations. A 36 inch vanity, for example, is available with no drawers, with the drawers on the left, or with the drawers on the right — same outside width, three different interiors — so we can clear a drain that sits off-centre.
